Badminton Lovers, Your Sporty Hobby May Be Your Money-Making Opportunity!

After learning how to find what I need in Tbilisi, Georgia through expat Facebook groups, one of the first things I looked up was a Badminton gym.

I can badminton easy tennis for the simple fact that you don't have to run to be two places at once to catch and return your target, but rather a birdie floats gently down, making it an active but lightweight and fun sport.

Imagine my joy at finding all of the similar queries in the search from other expats who, like me, wanted to know where to play badminton in Tbilisi. Some were a few years old, but lots of the answers were from other expats expressing a similar desire.

Very few actually listed places to play and most were people hoping to start groups.

It seems as though nothing materialized.

All the searches for a place to play badminton were unmet but many searchers including myself, that is until this year.

This year as I found a new thread promising the opening of a badminton gym, someone replied "it never happened, but there is a Russian group that meets to play."

I haven't yet contacted and joined the telegram badminton group but what it left me thinking was about one of the principles of opportunity as outlined in my ebook:

Make money from what you wish was there but isn't.

There is so much opportunity as a digital nomad simply by filling in and offering the services you wish existed in your new country or city. The probability that others, like with badminton, are looking for that service is probably high.

Can you make money from badminton?

I think you can make money from anything, but that doesn't equate to becoming a millionaire.

in this case, I would say that to find a small indoor space (which would be great if it also had a yard) and lay floors and nets for the court. In a city like Tbilisi costs for this would be relatively low comparitively. You could then buy the equipment and charge daily rates and memberships.

I think the biggest thing is that this doesn't have to be a sports mega-complex. maybe one or two indoor courts and one or two outdoor.

And, like any business advertising and drumming up interest is key. A lot of times I find that services exist in Georgia but I can't find them because I need to do a search in a local language or ask a local person where to find something.

If the most interested people in Badminton are fellow expats and digital nomads, plenty of info and a website should be in English, but the word should also be spread in the local language.

I hate to make this sound simplistic, it is work, but what if you could create an extra source of income, from recurring memberships and badminton, a sport that you enjoy playing?
