If you could do anything in the world to make money, chances are it would be by taking some existing skill, hobby, or natural talent and creating a business.

Yet, everyone says to chase your passion, but how exactly do you do that?

If you like to draw pictures do you just simply become an artist? What if you like basketball? What are the chances that you will get into the NBA?

The thing about opportunities is that there is more than one way to make money from something.

There are multiple unique business opportunities, investment opportunities, and more, that you can make money from doing what you really love.

Below I’ll share 4 simple ideas I have for Roller Skaters and rollerbladers to consider making money from their hobby.

roller skate business

When people hang out at the park or beach they have the option to rent bikes, surfboards, boats, use exercise equipment, and volleyball nets, but how often do you see skate rentals?

Open a simple roller skate rental business that can park itself near nicely paved paths in parks to allow people the option to skate, while also making you money.

You would need a truck (similar to a food truck) skates of varying sizes, a way to take payments (cashless is best), plus a system to ensure skates are returned.

This seems relatively easy to set up, as skates are reusable assets that can make money over years, and best of all you’re in an industry that places you adjacent to your hobby and could make you hundreds a day.

roller disco business

Growing up in Madison, Wisconsin Fast Forward was the place to be for a middle school or early high school kid on a Friday night.

It was clean, and fun, everyone was there, plus relatively inexpensive.

Opening a roller rink would take a bit more work than the previous idea, but if you’re all in, why not open a place that offers kids and adult a nightclub skating atmoshpere?

The rink would offer skate rental, have a DJ and cool lights, same as a nightclub, drinks, and food plus special breaks like couples skate.

This one would require a building, the skates, the DJ, lights and sound system, a special floor for skating, and a few other things.

But I don’t honestly think there is anything more fun than skating and dancing, plus seeing the tricks and routines people come up with when given the option.

In the same vein as the skate nightclub, there is so much on YouTube for people to learn dance and fancy footwork on skates.

Not to mention the cool videos that come out of Chicago and Atlanta of roller rinks with skate groups, routines, and dancers.

So many people want to learn these skills but we all don't absorb information the best alone at home.

So, why not offer skate dance lessons in your local park or empty parking lot weekly?

This is inexpensive to set up as you wouldn't need to rent a building and you could require participants to bring their own skates.

online skate business

If you know anything about dropshipping you know that the main principle is to touch no inventory.

That's one way to go about having your own online skate shop.

The biggest thing would be to niche and differentiate yourself in some way. Either by skate type, brand, or even particular colors.

If you did want to create a more unique online skate shop that has strong branding, it's easy to find manufacturers on Alibaba that can create the kind of skates that you want.

A website would be needed, a plan for how to niche or find a special roller skating audience that is underserved (not enough options for simple click on and off your shoe skates), and advertising.
